Synopsis

Gaie Kensei's excited to start high school and join the kendo club—especially since his childhood friend Nireki Hikari goes there too. The school's got a serious competitive kendo scene, which is perfect for him. The problem? His father's a legendary kendo player, so when the club finds out Kensei isn't anywhere near that level, they shut him down and won't let him join. While moping around, Kensei stumbles on Ashihara Naoto's secret training spot. She's clearly talented at kendo but claims to hate it and spends most of her time reading instead. She agrees to help him train up enough to prove himself to the club, though she refuses to actually join it herself. By the deadline for sign-ups, Kensei finally makes the cut. Hikari gets in too—becoming the club's first female member. Their high school kendo journey is officially underway.
