Synopsis

Deep in the woods sits an abandoned piano. If you pass by, you might hear music drifting from it—a young boy named Kai Ichinose playing at the keys. He lives with his single mother, who works as a prostitute, and he's known at school for getting into fights to protect his classmate Shuuhei Amamiya from bullies. Shuuhei comes from a family of professional pianists and feels the weight of their expectations pressing down on him. He practices obsessively every day just to meet their standards. Kai, on the other hand, has the support of his teacher—a former piano legend—and dreams bigger: he wants to not just match Shuuhei's success, but become Japan's greatest pianist. The rivalry between these two friends pushes them both to new heights, and their journey ends up inspiring young pianists around the world.
