Inaba Yuushi's parents died during his first year of middle school, so he ended up moving in with relatives. They weren't cruel to him, but he could sense he was a burden—so when he got accepted to a high school with dormitory housing, he was genuinely relieved. Then the dorm burned down before he could even move in. Now he's stuck. He doesn't want to go back to his relatives' place, but finding affordable housing as a broke orphan isn't exactly easy. When he finally stumbles across a cheap room in an old building, it feels like a miracle. Except there's a problem: it's a Monster House. Humans and supernatural creatures—ghosts, mononoke, you name it—all live under the same roof. There's also another high school student living there, a girl named Akine who's somehow completely cool with all the monsters. Oh, and she can actually exorcise evil spirits. So yeah, Yuushi's high school experience just became way weirder than he expected.
