It's 972 A.D. in Kyoto, and the capital is falling apart. Corrupt samurai and onmyoji are everywhere, all scheming for power while the city starves and disease spreads unchecked. The Imperial Court finally decides something has to change—they send for Minamoto no Raiko, a legendary samurai famous for his archery, to find the Magatama, a mythical gem with the power to save the world. But Raiko gets sick before he can leave. His youngest sister Hikaru isn't about to let that stop the mission, so she sneaks off in his place. What follows is a journey full of unexpected encounters and wild adventures as Hikaru searches for the legendary gem.
