Twelve-year-old Mitsuki has a rare throat cancer called sarcoma. She could survive by having her vocal cords removed, but she refuses—she wants to be a pop singer and keep a childhood promise to Eichi, her first love who moved to America. So she just accepts that she's going to die, unwilling to trade her voice for her life. One day while sneaking out to an audition (her grandmother hates music), Mitsuki runs into two shinigami: Takuto and Meroko. They can tell she sees them, so they break the news—she's got about a year left. But Takuto's moved by her situation and makes her a deal. He gives her the power to transform into a healthy sixteen-year-old whenever she wants. With her new chance, Mitsuki auditions and lands a record deal with Seed Records.
