Japan was devastated by a catastrophe at the end of the 21st century, leaving the land transformed and civilization stalled. Now, in the present day, the emperor and his four sons rule the country with absolute control. Legend says only the "Child of Destiny" can break free from their grip. Sarasa has always lived in the shadow of her twin brother Tatara, who's supposed to be that prophesied child. She supports him however she can, but everything changes when the Red King—the emperor's youngest son—attacks their village with his army. Tatara is killed in the assault. To save her people and avenge her brother, Sarasa assumes Tatara's identity and takes on the role of the Child of Destiny. The stress and trauma take a physical toll on her, so Sarasa goes to a hot spring to recover. There she meets Shuri, an enigmatic and charming guy who's immediately drawn to how different she is from other girls. Sarasa can't stop thinking about him either. Their meeting sets everything in motion—binding them together through war, hatred, and love.
