Synopsis

Regis Aurick is a terrible soldier. He can't fight with a sword, can't ride a horse, and honestly doesn't care much about the empire he's supposed to serve—he'd rather just read books all day. After getting shipped off to the borderlands as punishment, he meets Altina, the Fourth Princess of Belgaria, who has striking red hair and ruby eyes. She's looking for him specifically, having heard rumors about his tactical genius, and she wastes no time: "Do you want to become my tactician or not?" Altina wants to fix an empire that's falling apart because of greedy nobles and pointless wars. She carries the legendary imperial sword, the Grand Tonnerre Quatre, and she's determined to prove she's more than just a figurehead—no matter what it takes or who doubts her, including Regis himself. The story follows these two unlikely partners as they navigate war, politics, and whatever develops between them along the way.
