Kobayashi Shin'ichirou spent years as a producer at Sunrise before jumping ship in 2002. He and Kouchiyama Takashi left to start Manglobe, where Kobayashi took on the role of president and CEO. The studio became known for handling projects with a distinctive visual style, carving out its own identity in the anime industry rather than following the safer routes his former employer might've taken.
