Anzai got started on piano at just four years old, studying classical technique from the beginning. After finishing at Salesio School, he moved on to studying musical theory and composition under Koujiro Kobune and Reiko Arima, then picked up jazz theory from Kazuo Yashiro and Aiko Tsukahara.
