Ryuu Katou graduated from the Department of Graphic Design at Tama Art University in 2004 and the Faculty of Fine Arts, Graduate School of Arts at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2007. As an independent animator, Katou has produced many short films, music videos, and commercials. He uses a variety of animation techniques, including hand-drawn, watercolor, shadow play, and stop motion.
