Kurosaka Keita, born in 1956, is an animator and professor of imaging arts and sciences at Musashino Art University in Tokyo. He's known for working across pretty much every animation technique you can think of—drawing, stop-motion with photography and sculpture, video, installation art, even comics. His work has traveled to major festivals like Rotterdam, Berlin, Annecy, and Hiroshima.
Among his best-known pieces are Worm Story (1989), Personal City (1990), ATAMA (1994), and Flying Daddy (1997). Fans often note his willingness to experiment across mediums. He's also done more commercial work—he contributed the 23rd segment to the 2003 collaborative film Winter Days, which brought together 35 international animators, and directed a 2006 promotion video called Agitated Scream of Maggots for the Japanese rock band Dir en grey, who had already built a serious international following by that point.
