Retort is a Japanese Let's Player who's been making videos since 2008. He started out on Niconico Douga with Pokémon Snap back in December of that year, then moved to YouTube in 2014 where he mixed gameplay footage with videos about sweets. He eventually phased out Niconico entirely by 2018, though he still pops on there occasionally for monthly livestreams.
He's pretty recognizable for his distinctive nasal voice—something he leans into with friends by joking around with the name "hanagoe" (literally "nasal voice") or variations of it during playthroughs.
Retort is best known as part of TOP4, a Let's Player group that includes Kiyo, Ushizawa, and Gatchman. He also co-hosts Mattaku Mi ni Naranai Radio (roughly "Completely Useless Radio") with Kiyo, which has become a regular thing for both of them.
