Masaki Okuda is an animator and illustrator from Yokohama, Japan. He studied graphic design at Tama Art University, graduating in 2009, then went on to Tokyo University of the Arts where he completed his studies in animation, film, and new media in 2011.
He started making animated films while still at Tama Art University. His short film Kuchao became his breakthrough work, picking up the New Talent award at Fantoche and Best Short Film of Animation Schools at Animadrid, along with recognition at festivals worldwide.
After a stint in Montreal, Canada as part of an overseas artist residency program, Okuda established himself as a freelance animator and illustrator. His portfolio is pretty diverse—title sequences for live-action films, animation and CG work for television, music videos, and cover art for books, CDs, and DVDs. His work has circulated through the festival circuit internationally.
