Studied at Osaka Kyoiku University, Image Forum Institute of Moving Image, and Tokyo University of the Arts. Started making short animations on his own around 2002, teaching himself the craft from the ground up.
His work is defined by a real attention to smooth, natural movement—the kind of thing most people don't consciously notice but feel. He's deeply interested in the Japanese concept of ma, that sense of meaningful space and tension that exists between actions rather than in the actions themselves. It's something he thinks about constantly when animating.
