Asaoka Yukiji was a singer and actress best known for her work with the Takarazuka Revue Company, though she built a solid career across TV, film, and voice acting too. She was the daughter of Itou Shinsui, a celebrated painter of shin hanga prints, and later married actor Tsugawa Masahiko.
Her filmography includes appearances opposite Shintaro Katsu in a Zatoichi film and the first Hanzo the Razor movie, but singing was really her calling—that's what she's remembered for. She passed away on April 27, 2018.
