Tamura is a big RPG fan—Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, all that stuff. She's also into mystery novels and spends time chatting with fans online. She illustrated the sci-fi chapter for Squaresoft's Live-A-Live.

She's best known for creating BASARA, the hugely popular fantasy manga series. A photo from December 1995 captures her at a Bessatsu Shôjo Comic year-end party, where she was signing something for a high school manga artist also working with the magazine.
