Tetsuo Yasumi was born January 1, 1954 in Japan. He's a jack-of-all-trades animator who's worked as a storyboarder, animator, animation checker, and director throughout his career.
He started out in 1972 as an illustrator for a weekly tabloid, but that didn't stick—by 1975 he'd switched to animation. He began as an inbetweener on Manga Nihon Mukashibanashi under Studio Akapan and director Takahashi Ryousuke in 1978, quickly moving up to animator and storyboarder roles. His workload really ramped up after joining Shin-Ei in 1980. He didn't step into directing until 1991, but that became another major part of his skill set.
These days he works freelance, though he maintains close ties with Group Tac.
