huke is a Japanese illustrator best known for creating Black★Rock Shooter and his work with the music group supercell. He started his career as a character designer at a game company before going freelance, which gave him the creative freedom to develop original concepts. He became known for Metal Gear Solid fan illustrations early on, and eventually set up a Pixiv account and personal blog to build his online presence.
The turning point came in December 2007 when he uploaded an illustration of Black★Rock Shooter. The character caught the attention of ryo, supercell's leader, who was inspired to write a song around it—marking the band's first collaboration with the character. That single piece of artwork essentially launched one of huke's most iconic creations and led to an ongoing partnership with supercell.
Beyond Black★Rock Shooter, huke is also recognized for his character design work on Steins;Gate, the visual novel co-produced by 5pb. and Nitroplus. The combination of his game industry background and original character work has made him a notable figure in Japanese illustration and game design circles.
