Yoshimitsu Yamashita is a Japanese animator and character designer who studied History at Kokugakuin University. He broke into the anime industry in 1997 at JCF in a production management role, despite having no formal art training—his drawing skills were simply noticed through sketches and doodles he'd done on company paperwork.
His first animation work came on Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo The Movie 2. After several years at JCF, he went freelance, with Samurai Champloo marking his first project as an independent animator. Around 2006, he joined BeeTrain as a character designer and animation director for Ginyuu Mokushiroku Meine Liebe wieder. When BeeTrain's animation department was spun off into C-Station, Yamashita moved along with it. He's remained a staff member there since, though he frequently takes on outside freelance contracts.
