Watanabe Kotono is an anime director from Nakatsugawa in Gifu Prefecture. She graduated from Aichi University of the Arts in March 2007 and joined studio Madhouse that same April.
She's best known for directing the TV adaptation of Btooom!, which marked her directorial debut in 2012 when she was 29. The gig came about because Flying Dog producer Minami Takeshi was specifically looking for either a young director or a woman to helm the series—and Watanabe fit the bill.
