Formerly a producer at SynergySP (FKA Synergy Japan), Sakurai was in charge of the works produced for TV Tokyo's Sunday 10:00 a.m. time-slot from 2005 until its conclusion in 2010 — MÄR, Hayate no Gotoku!, Zettai Karen Children, and Cross Game.
In 2016, Sakurai departed from SynergySP to become a producer at OLM and led Team Sakurai until its disbandment after Zoid’s Wild in 2019.
