AC-bu is a Tokyo-based animation and design collective run by INS Studio. Founded by Tama Art University grads Tooru Adachi and Shunsuke Itakura (along with former collaborator Makoto Ando), the team has built a reputation for their wild, instantly recognizable visual style. They're known for bringing that signature oddball energy to all kinds of work—whether it's government voting campaigns, local ads, or smaller projects—and somehow making everything feel exciting and oddly motivating. Their stuff shows up in unexpectedly cool places.
The team's whole thing is translating their particular brand of weirdness into animation, illustration, and whatever else fits. If you've seen something visually bizarre and charming pop up online or IRL, there's a decent chance it's theirs.
