Anno Moyoko
Born March 26, 1971 in Suginami, Tokyo, Anno Moyoko is a manga artist and fashion writer known for connecting with young female readers in Japan. She started her career as an assistant to Kyoko Okazaki before establishing herself as a creator.
While Anno primarily works in josei manga, her biggest hit is Sugar Sugar Rune, a magical girl series that ran in Nakayoshi and targets school-aged girls. The manga resonated so strongly that an Oricon poll ranked her #8 among female manga artists and #13 overall in Japan. Her other popular works—Happy Mania, Hataraki Man, and Sakuran—crossed over into other media: Happy Mania became a TV series in 1998, Hataraki Man adapted for television in October 2007, and Sakuran got a film adaptation in 2006.
Anno has published numerous books across both manga and fashion writing, establishing herself as a voice for young women's interests and style. She's married to anime director Anno Hideaki.
