Hashimoto Mitsuo is a Japanese storyboard artist and director who's spent decades working in anime—everything from TV series to OVAs and films. He's best known for his extensive work on the Dragon Ball franchise across all three TV series, plus the OVAs and movies. He also had a major hand in bringing Dr. Slump & Arale-chan to life, both the show and its films.
Early on, he worked under a different kanji for his name but switched it after discovering someone else was already using that version. While contracted with Toei Animation, he sometimes took on outside work under the pseudonym Tachibana Genjuurou to get around exclusivity agreements.
In more recent years, he's shifted toward directing smaller, independent anime projects—the kind of passion projects fans often respect for their creative freedom, even if they lack the big studio budgets of his earlier work.
