Suzuki Shinichi is an animator, director, and manga artist from Nagasaki Prefecture. He's best known for his work spanning the 1960s through 1980s, though he's continued picking up projects into recent years.
Early in his career, he lived at the legendary Tokiwa-So alongside other manga artists before transitioning to animation at Otogi Pro. He was one of the co-founders of Studio Zero with Fujio Akatsuka and Shotaro Ishinomori—a short-lived venture that nonetheless produced shows like Rainbow Sentai Robin and helped develop animators like Keiichiro Kimura.
His filmography includes shorts like Dot, which played in at least one of the Animation Festivals, plus feature work on Space Firebird 2772, Legend of the Forest, and Yuki. Over time he gradually shifted toward educational content. In his later career, he worked on NHK's claymation series Chikkun Takku (2001) and contributed a particularly warm and memorable short to Kawamoto Kihachirou's Winter Days in 2003.
Currently, he serves as director of the Suginami Animation Museum.
Note: Not to be confused with Magic Bus animator Suzuki Shinichi (鈴木伸一) or animator/director Suzuki Shinichi (鈴木信一), founder of Anime Koubou Basara—both happen to share the same name.
