Birthplace: Brisbane, Australia
S3RL is an Australian hardcore DJ and producer who's been a fixture in the scene since the early 2000s. His real name is Jole Hughes, though the stage name came from something pretty funny—his cousins used to call him "arsehole" as a kid, but to keep it cleaner, they'd say "arserl" instead. The name stuck, so he just went with it.
He's best known for "Pretty Rave Girl" (2006), which samples the melody from Daddy DJ's 1999 track of the same name. Beyond that, he's dropped a bunch of tracks that have become staples in hardcore circles—"Fantasy Land," "Raver Dimension," "Rainbow Girl," "Friendzoned," and several others. Fans often note that a lot of his work leans heavily into Japanese pop culture references, whether that's anime, manga, or video games. He's also contributed to the Bonkers compilation series, a major UK hardcore franchise.
In 2011, S3RL started his own label, EMFA Music, which now handles all his releases. You can find him on the usual platforms if you want to keep up with new material.
