Kazuhisa Oono is an anime director from Kouichi Prefecture who got his start in an unexpected way—he was working as a radio mixer before Mirai Keisatsu Urashiman inspired him to pivot into anime directing. He joined Tatsunoko Production in 1992 and learned the craft as an assistant director under Kouichi Mashimo, who directed that same series that had caught his attention. Eventually he went freelance.
He's also credited under the pen names Kentaro Nakamura and Ken'ichi Kuhara.
