Synopsis

Makoto Naegi gets accepted into Hope's Peak Academy, an elite school that takes in the best talent from around the country. He's pretty much a nobody with no special skills, so he figures it's gotta be a mistake—but he's thrilled anyway. A school like this basically guarantees success after graduation. He shows up ready to go. Then everything goes weird. He blacks out and wakes up alone in some classroom with no memory of how he got there. When he explores and finds his classmates gathered in the gym, nobody knows what's going on either. That's when Monokuma shows up—a creepy robotic teddy bear who claims to be the principal. The bear lays out the rules: they're all locked in the school, and there's only one way out. Kill one of your classmates and don't get caught. Now Makoto and everyone else are stuck between two terrible options. Either play Monokuma's killing game, or spend the rest of their lives trapped inside the school together.
