Synopsis

Manji is a legendary swordsman in feudal Japan infamous for slaughtering a hundred innocent people—a reputation that pales in comparison to his actual curse: immortality. An eight-hundred-year-old nun named Yaobikuni infected him with magical bloodworms that heal virtually any wound, making him unable to die. Seeking redemption, Manji strikes a deal with Yaobikuni: kill a thousand evil men, and she'll lift his immortal curse. His chance at atonement comes sooner than expected when he meets Rin Asano, a 16-year-old girl desperate for help avenging her murdered parents. Manji initially turns her down, but her helplessness sways him. He agrees to protect her for four years as she hunts down those responsible. What follows is a blood-soaked journey of revenge and redemption, with each of them chasing their own path to salvation.
