Synopsis

Haruyuki is an overweight middle schooler who gets bullied constantly and escapes into online games. Everything changes when Kuroyukihime, the student council vice president, tops all his high scores and pulls him aside. She introduces him to Brain Burst, a secretive program that accelerates your brain waves so time essentially freezes—and it's also an AR fighting game. To keep using it, you need to win duels and earn points; lose everything, and you're locked out for good. Kuroyukihime has her own agenda though. She wants to track down Brain Burst's creator and find out why it exists in the first place, which means she needs to take down the Six Kings of Pure Color—the faction leaders running the show—and reach level 10, the game's max level. After she helps Haruyuki deal with his bullies, he commits to helping her chase that goal. What follows is their climb to the top and the secrets waiting for them there.
