Dog Days is set in Flonyard, an alternate version of Earth where people have animal features—specifically the ears and tails matching their kingdom's species. When the dog-like Republic of Biscotti gets invaded by the cat-themed Galette Leo Knights, Princess Millhiore makes a desperate move: she summons a hero from another world. That hero turns out to be Cinque Izumi, just a regular junior high student from Earth. Cinque agrees to help and acquires the Palladion, a sacred weapon, to prepare for battle. Turns out warfare in Flonyard works nothing like Earth—there are no deaths, and it's basically a high-stakes sports competition meant to raise money for participating nations. Cinque proves himself as a capable fighter and becomes Biscotti's champion, but there's a catch: summoned heroes can't just go home. Biscotti's scientists promise to work on a solution while Cinque's stuck there, so for now he's locked into serving Princess Millhiore as the kingdom's defender.
