Bumblebee Hajimete no Chikyuu Seikatsu
Transformers' Bumblebee got a fun promotional push in Japan with chibi-style versions of the robot created by Pop Team Epic's Bkub Okawa and animator Yuzo Yamamoto to hype up the film's Japanese release. The movie is a prequel to the live-action Transformers franchise, with Hailee Steinfeld playing Charlie Watson, a teenager who stumbles onto the Bumblebee autobot in 1987. The alien robot has lost his voice and his memory is shot, so he's hiding out disguised as an old Volkswagen Beetle. When Charlie gets the Beetle as a birthday present, she realizes it's actually a damaged, mute autobot—she names him Bumblebee. His discovery doesn't stay quiet for long though. The Decepticons Shatter and Dropkick show up to hunt him down, and they've got Sector 7 helping them out. The film hit Japanese theaters on March 22, 2019.
