Tsubomi Hanasaki is a shy flower lover who sees her family's move to a new town as a chance to reinvent herself—to actually be confident and outgoing for once. The night before the move, she has a vivid dream about a mysterious floating tree guarded by a warrior called "Cure Moonlight." It turns out the dream was real in a weird way. Tsubomi soon runs into two small fairies, Chypre and Coffret, who are being chased by some strange woman. When that woman unleashes a giant monster on the city, Tsubomi suddenly transforms into a warrior herself. She becomes "Cure Blossom" and learns that the woman is working with an organization trying to turn the entire world into a barren desert. Now it's her job to stop them. As Tsubomi keeps fighting monsters and piecing together the mystery of Cure Moonlight, she'll have to figure out if she can actually become the confident person she's always wanted to be.
