Synopsis

Hinata watches a volleyball match on TV and sees Karasuno's "Little Giant" pull off an incredible win. Inspired, he decides volleyball is his sport and enrolls at Karasuno High to chase that same dream. There's just one problem: he's short, and when he tries to join the team, he runs straight into Tobio Kageyama—the "King of the Court" and a genius setter who absolutely crushed him in middle school. Their bad blood is so obvious that the team refuses to let either of them join unless they learn to get along. Hinata and Kageyama hate the idea, but they want to play badly enough to swallow their pride and work something out together. They propose a demonstration to prove they can actually be teammates, and it works. The two freshmen end up forming an unlikely setter-and-ace combo, and before long, an old rival school challenges Karasuno to some practice matches—reigniting the competition between them.
