Haruichi Furudate is from Iwate Prefecture, Japan. He actually played volleyball back in junior high as a middle blocker before eventually becoming a manga creator—which probably explains why volleyball became such a central part of his work later on.

After graduating, he made the move to Miyagi Prefecture, which also ended up being the setting for his most famous series. His hobbies are pretty straightforward: eating and drinking. When it comes to manga and anime, he's a fan of One Piece and Tekkonkinkreet. As for volleyball itself, he follows players like Shigeru Aoyama and Yuta Yoneyama.
