Synopsis

Shuuichi Nitori is a fifth grader who looks feminine and is widely considered one of the cutest girls at school—except she's actually a boy, which bothers her immensely. Good thing she has her childhood best friend Yoshino Takatsuki, a tall, tomboyish girl who also struggles with gender identity in the opposite direction. They've both got the same secret weighing on them, so they understand each other in a way nobody else can. But things get messier when they transition to a new school, try to build friendships from scratch, and figure out how to keep their old ones intact. As they navigate puberty, new crushes, and an avalanche of social complications, both Shuuichi and Yoshino have to confront what it really means to grow up transgender. Takako Shimura's manga takes gender identity seriously—it's not treated as a punchline or subplot, but as the central struggle of the story. The series follows them through genuine, sometimes brutal challenges as they search for who they really are and where they fit in.
