A century ago, the world got turned upside down by a catastrophic event called the Invertia. It wiped out the old superpowers and let a mega-corporation called the Integrated Empire Foundation take over. More importantly though, it created a new breed of humans—the Genestella—who are born with insane physical abilities. The best of them get scouted and sent to one of six elite academies, where they compete in flashy tournaments called Festas for entertainment and glory. Ayato Amagiri is a scholarship student at Seidoukan Academy, a once-prestigious school that's been on a losing streak. One day he stumbles on Julis-Alexia von Riessfeld, the "Witch of Resplendent Flames," half-naked, and she's furious. She demands a duel to settle things. After the student council kills the match, Ayato drops the bomb: he doesn't actually care about Festas. He's only here hunting for his missing sister. But when a shadier plot surfaces, he realizes he's got to fight his way through it—all while surrounded by some of the most gifted Genestella alive.
