The Di Gi Charat Natsuyasumi Special was a four-episode series that aired just under a year after the original show, running from August 2-3, 2001. It introduced Rodoyan, a young American otaku obsessed with Dejiko. In the first two episodes, Puchiko accidentally ends up stranded in America after getting stuck on a bus and the driver won't stop. She lands with Rod Young, an American fan who's so devoted to Dejiko that he lets Puchiko crash at his place. He then invites Dejiko to come visit and bring Puchiko back home. The third episode centers on a band contest happening in Akihabara. The grand prize is a ten-year supply of nattou—Dejiko's favorite food—so she's determined to enter. The catch is she's got no band members and no instruments to her name. In the final episode, Dejiko and the Gamers crew head up to the mountains, but things take a creepy turn when night falls. People start vanishing one by one.
