Synopsis

In a futuristic Japan, the government has set up "The Red Threads of Science"—a system designed to boost marriages and fix the country's plummeting birth rate. At 16, teenagers get assigned spouses based on compatibility algorithms, and refusing is basically not an option if you want to avoid serious consequences. For Yukari Nejima, a pretty unremarkable guy, this might actually be his ticket to a decent life. But then he goes and confesses to Misaki Takasaki, his longtime crush from school. She actually feels the same way, and things get passionate between them. Their moment doesn't last long, though—Yukari's marriage assignment arrives, and it's not Misaki. His assigned partner is Ririna Sanada, who's supposed to be thrilled about the match. Instead, she gets weirdly interested in Yukari's secret romance, and suddenly everything becomes a mess of tangled feelings and secrets.
