After dealing with Dusk Taker, Kuroyukihime reflects on how she first brought Haruyuki into Brain Burst—an app that lets players speed up their thinking so the world basically freezes around them. Since joining, Haruyuki's become pretty popular among other players and has been helping Kuroyukihime work toward reaching the game's max level. A territorial battle goes sideways when Haruyuki and the crew get booted out of the program during some kind of catastrophic in-game storm. Around the same time, security cameras all over Tokyo start glitching out, which Kuroyukihime connects to a Brain Burst malfunction. To fix it and get their acceleration powers back, Nega Nebulus—their legion—has to team up with the other legions to track down what's causing the problem.
