Synopsis

Nanami Momozono's life hits rock bottom when her dad disappears, leaving her buried in debt and homeless. While helping a man being pestered by a dog, she spills her sob story—and he randomly offers her his place. Sounds too good to be true because it is: the house is actually a dilapidated shrine. Before she can bail, two shrine spirits and a fox familiar named Tomoe corner her. They think she's Mikage, the land god who owns the place, and apparently he just handed it over to her as his replacement. Tomoe's furious about serving a human and takes off. Nanami decides homelessness sucks worse than playing shrine god, so she commits to the job. Problem is, she needs Tomoe's help to actually run things. When she tracks him down looking for assistance, she accidentally ends up sealing a contract with him instead. Now they're stuck together as god and familiar, which gets complicated fast—there's a youkai trying to eat her, a snake demon wanting to marry her, and worst of all, Nanami's developing actual feelings for her grumpy fox guardian.
