"Tozandensha (Mountain Railway)" is a Japanese version of the famous 1880 Neapolitan song "Funiculì funiculà," originally written by Luigi Denza with lyrics by Peppino Turco to celebrate the opening of Mount Vesuvius's first funicular railway. The Duke Aces recorded a rendition that aired on NHK's Minna no Uta in April 1961, paired with shadow puppet theater by Kakashiza Shadow Play Theatre—though the recording is now considered lost. A few years later, in June 1970, the Hibarigaoka Boys and Girls Choir performed the song on the same program under its original title, this time with an animated music video created by Hal Fukushima.
