Synopsis

Joshiraku is basically a show about five girls who do rakugo storytelling, and it's really just about them hanging out and talking. They riff on whatever comes to mind—weird everyday stuff, politics, manga, you name it. The conversations jump around constantly and never really go where you'd expect them to. Each girl's got a distinct personality. There's Marii, who's energetic but kind of immature; Kigurumi, who looks cute but there's more going on; Tetora, who's just naturally lucky and laid-back; Gankyou, who's surprisingly chill until she's violently not; and Kukuru, who's pretty pessimistic and unstable. They also hang around with some mysterious girl in a wrestling mask for some reason. Most of the time they're either backstage at the rakugo theater or wandering around famous spots in Tokyo, just sharing their thoughts with the audience.
