Synopsis

Nine ordinary people from around the world get kidnapped and turned into cyborgs—powerful weapons designed by their captors. They rebel against their creators, fighting for justice and world peace. But decades pass, and while the nine barely age, the world changes around them. Justice turns out to be way messier than they thought. Now they have to figure out where they actually fit in a world with as many definitions of right and wrong as there are people in it. The story opens with a creation myth: In the beginning, there was the Voice, and everyone obeyed. But humanity got greedy and built towers reaching toward heaven, ignoring His word. So He gave them a chance to make things right—and sent down fire and smoke and the roar of a lion. The towers crumbled to dust.
