Synopsis

By year 74 of the Cosmic Era, the war between Earth's Naturals and the space-based Coordinators is finally winding down. After taking heavy losses, Kira Yamato climbs into the Strike Freedom Gundam and leads the Archangel crew on a desperate mission to destroy the Requiem—a planet-killer weapon designed to eliminate most of humanity across the galaxy. Fighting alongside him is his best friend and rival Athrun Zala, a top pilot who finds himself under attack from his own former subordinate, Shinn Asuka. Shinn flies the Destiny Gundam and sees Athrun as a traitor standing in the way of the universe's future peace. As mobile suits clash across the battlefield, two groups of humans who can't seem to understand each other bring their long conflict to an end.
