Synopsis

For centuries, the Iga and Kouga clans have been at each other's throats. That finally changed when the powerful warlord Ieyasu Tokugawa forced a ceasefire on both sides. Flash forward a few years. Gennosuke Kouga and Oboro Iga—heirs to their respective clans—have fallen in love. They figure marriage is the perfect way to end the feud once and for all. But that plan falls apart when old rivalries suddenly flare back up, pulling them straight back into conflict. The reason? Ieyasu's two grandsons are both fighting over who gets to be the next shogun. To settle it, each grandson picks one clan to represent him. The Kouga and Iga are each forced to send their ten strongest warriors to fight to the death in a brutal battle royale. Two scrolls list all the fighters' names, and they get marked in blood as each person dies. The winning clan earns the Tokugawa shogunate's favor for the next thousand years. Caught between their love for each other and their loyalty to their clans, Gennosuke and Oboro have to figure out where they actually stand—and they might end up facing each other when it matters most.
