Synopsis

Tetsuo Takahashi is a high school biology teacher with an unusual hobby: he's fascinated by "Ajin"—or "Demi," as most people call them. These half-human, half-monster beings have made their way into society, but Takahashi figures the only way to really understand them is to interact with them directly. His chance comes when three Demi students enroll at Shibasaki High School. There's Hikari, an upbeat vampire; Kyouko, a soft-spoken dullahan; and Yuki, a reserved snow woman. The school also hires a new teacher, Sakie Satou, who happens to be a succubus—and someone who'd rather keep her distance from men. Takahashi seizes the opportunity to conduct casual interviews with his Demi students, asking them about their abilities, how they think, and what it's like living in a human world. As he gets to know them better, something interesting becomes clear: they're really not that different from anyone else.
