Eighth-grader Mob is a natural psychic who realized early on that his powers are dangerous. He decides to keep them locked down, only using them occasionally to try and impress his crush, Tsubomi—though she gets bored with the same tricks pretty quickly. Looking for help controlling his abilities, Mob ends up training under Arataka Reigen, a con artist who pretends to be psychic himself and basically uses Mob's real powers to make easy money exorcising spirits. This becomes Mob's new routine: show up, use psychic energy to banish ghosts, go home. But there's a problem. The power he's tapping into is just the surface of what he can actually do. If his emotions ever spiral out of control and he stops holding back, all that psychic energy will explode outward in a catastrophic release that could destroy everything around him—and transform him into something unrecognizable. That pressure's been building, and there might not be any way to stop it when it finally goes.
