The Republic of San Magnolia claims its war with the Giadian Empire is bloodless. That's a lie. While silver-haired Alba citizens live in safety behind walls in the Republic's eighty-five sectors, anyone who doesn't fit that description gets locked away in a hidden eighty-sixth sector. These people—called the Eighty-Six by the military—are forced to pilot mechas against the Empire's automated Legion, all while taking orders from Republican officers who see them as disposable. Vladilena Milizé gets assigned as the new Handler for the Spearhead squadron. Her peers hate her for actually caring about the Eighty-Six and treating them like human beings. Shinei Nouzen commands Spearhead, and he's got a dark reputation—he's the only survivor from every squad he's ever been part of. He carries the weight of everyone he's lost, keeping their names and final wishes close. When these two meet, something shifts. They're from completely different worlds, but they might be exactly what the other needs. Whether that connection saves them or destroys them is another question entirely.
