Akira Natsume wakes up from a 16-year coma to a bizarre reality: his brain is now trapped inside a military superweapon called an EX-ARM. A police officer named Minami and her android partner Alma break the news and immediately throw him into the deep end—they're escaping an enemy smuggler ship and need his help. At first Akira's hesitant to fight, but thinking back to something his brother told him before the accident, he pushes past it. He manages to possess Alma's body and use martial arts to take down enemies. Things really escalate when he jacks into the ship's systems and realizes just how powerful he actually is—he hacks the whole vessel and takes control without breaking a sweat. Back on solid ground, Akira meets the rest of the EX-ARM Countermeasure Prevention Team, a special police unit dedicated to stopping these weapons from being misused. After seeing firsthand the damage EX-ARMs cause in the wrong hands, he decides to officially join up and help shut down the operation once and for all.
